James J. Dean, Recipient of the 2021 Disting ....

Dear Friends and Visitors,

On behalf of the New York Metropolitan Chapter of the American Public Works Association, it is my privilege to announce that James J. Dean, Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Orangetown, is the recipient of the 2021 Distinguished Service to Public Works Award.

The Distinguished Service to Public Works Award is regarded as the highest honor that the National APWA can bestow on a member. Candidates must be Individuals who reflect prestige and honor upon APWA and is presented in recognition of acknowledged service and well-established preeminence in the field of public works.  Navigate here to view the Chapter's nomination.

As we all know, Jim is a dedicated member of the APWA who has provided many years of service to the New York Metropolitan Chapter.  Jim has been granted a lifetime membership to the American Public Works Association.  He has served on the Chapter Executive Committee as a Director, Secretary, President-Elect, President and Immediate Past President.  Jim has also served as chairman of Chapter Committees, including but not limited to, Education, Awards and the Annual Equipment Show.  Navigate here to view the application.

Additionally, Jim Dean has been bestowed many honors.  He is the recipient of the New York Metropolitan Chapter Elected Official of the Year Award as well as the recipient of the Chapter’s Presidential Award of Excellence for his 60+ years of service to the Orangetown Highway Department. 

Most recently in 2016, Jim Dean and the Orangetown Highway Department received, for a second time, the American Public Works Association Award For Excellence in Snow and Ice Control.

Therefore, I would now like to offer the Chapter’s sincerest congratulations to Jim Dean on this special award in recognition of his significant achievements.
